Kathmandu- Suyog Shrestha, President of Nepal Development Bankers Association Nepal, has said that the banking sector is not a complete sector in itself. Addressing the second National Banking Discourse 2024, he said that the banking sector will depend on things like the economy of the country, how is the business, and what is the mentality of the businessmen.
He said that the banks are not the only ones to blame for the non-flow of credit even when liquidity is easy. He said that he is confident that the policy makers will also learn something new from such programs, saying that such discourses have been organized at a time when the banking sector is facing various challenges and there is confusion about how to move the banking sector forward.
‘We believe that we will understand critically what our problems are and what we can do to solve that problem and what role we can play after coming to this program’, he said, ‘We both the banking sector and the business sector are complementary to each other. He said that the relationship between bankers and businessmen should be very close. He also said that the equity is increasing.
Chairman Shrestha informed that the liquidity of the banking sector does not always remain the same, and when the liquidity is low, it freezes. He said that earlier he was hearing that the liquidity was low, but recently the liquidity has become high. He said that the number of people going abroad has been increasing recently and this is affecting the banking sector as well. He said that if the trend of young people going abroad is not stopped, a challenge will also be created in the human resources needed by the banks.
