Kathmandu – The Cooperative Investigation Committee has instructed the government to return 18 directors and managers of cooperatives who are hiding abroad by cheating cooperatives. The committee meeting held on Monday directed the government to return them. Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has said that the parliamentary investigation special committee on misuse of cooperative savings funds will be a guide for the government.
In a committee meeting held today at the Federal Parliament Secretariat building at Singha Darbar, the Home Minister said that the problem of cooperatives has been given priority by the government. He said, “The government has prioritized the issue of solving the problem of cooperatives.” I believe that the Parliamentary Inquiry Special Committee on Misuse of Cooperative Savings Funds is a guide for the government.
Similarly, the inquiry committee coordinator Surya Bahadur Thapa requested to facilitate the testimony of those in jail in the case related to cooperatives. The investigation committee submitted the names of 18 people who fled abroad after misusing cooperative funds to the Home Minister.
Along with GB Rai, Gyan Bahadur Bamjan, Than Bahadur Rai, Bhupendra Rai of Suryadarshan Sahakari, Saphapan Khatun and Ashraf Ali of Sanopaila, Subas KC of Sahara and Supreme have also been instructed to return home. Similarly, Bharat Maharjan, his wife Mazmaya Maharjan, son Sachin Maharjan and daughter Sarla Maharjan who were accused of misappropriating funds of Sumeru Cooperative have also been asked to return to Nepal.
Similarly, the Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed to return Tej Bahadur Bamjan Tamang of Shivshikhar, Devkumar Nepali, president of Image Cooperative and his wife Cheda, manager Deepak Poudel, Leelanath Gautam of Shivshikhar Cooperative, Premdhwaj Lama of Kantipur Saving and Mahashankar Regmi of Meghadrim to return home. Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Basant Kunwar also participated in the meeting.
