Kathmandu – An 81-year-old man, Ram Prasad Paudyal, from Mahalakshmi Municipality-2 in Lalitpur, has been arrested in connection with a banking offense related to a bounced check. Paudyal had borrowed 5.82 million rupees from Lokendra Narayan Shrestha, promising to return the amount within a month. When Shrestha requested repayment, Paudyal issued two checks from his Sunrise Bank account for the amount. However, both checks bounced, leading Shrestha to pursue legal action.

On November 16, 2077, a bench of Judges Lohit Chand Shah and Ishwarraj Acharya of the High Court of Patan ruled that Paudyal must pay a compensation fee of 232,840 rupees. Following his arrest in Jhamsi Khel, Paudyal has been sent to Nakhkhu Jail in Lalitpur to serve the sentence. If the fine and compensation are not paid after serving seven days of imprisonment, Paudyal may face additional jail time.
