Kathmandu – Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Bam Bahadur Mishra, has emphasized the need to control the Hundi business and ensure that remittances are channeled through legal means.
Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu, Deputy Governor Mishra stressed that remittances should be brought into Nepal through official channels. He urged Nepalis living abroad to send money home legally and mentioned that the National Bank will simplify policies to facilitate easier remittance flows.
Deputy Governor Mishra stated, “Remittances account for around 24 percent of the country’s gross domestic product. If we can control illegal Hundi operations and channel remittances through legal avenues, it will significantly contribute to the economy.”
