KATHMANDU – The government has decided to renew the license of the private telecommunications company Ncell under certain conditions. The decision was made during the Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday evening.

Key details of the renewal include:

  • Installment Payment Facility: Ncell will be allowed to pay the remaining 16 billion rupees of the renewal fee over the next 5 years.
  • Total Renewal Fee: The total fee for the license renewal is 20 billion rupees, of which Ncell has already paid 4 billion rupees.
  • Payment Schedule: Ncell is required to pay 5 billion rupees and 10 percent interest by August 15 of each year over the next five years.
  • License Duration: The license period for the telecommunication company spans 25 years.
  • Conditional Renewal: A significant condition of the renewal is that Ncell is prohibited from changing its share ownership during the five-year payment period.

The government’s decision allows Ncell to continue operations while ensuring that the company fulfills its financial obligations within the stipulated timeframe.
