Prime Minister Oli Honors Paralympic Medalist With Cash Awards

Kathmandu, 28 August – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today honored bronze medalist Palesa Gowdradhan, along with her coach and team manager, for their outstanding achievement in the Paris Para Olympics 2024. In recognition of their success, the government awarded Palesa Rs. 65 lakh, as per the Council of Ministers’ decision on August 20th, with no tax deduction on the prize.

During a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, Palesa’s coach, Kaviraj Negi Lama, was also honored with Rs. 5,85,000, while team manager Ramchandra Shrestha received Rs. 2,92,000.

Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of providing timely rewards without tax deductions to maintain the morale and enthusiasm in the sports sector. He expressed confidence in Nepal’s future successes in world-class competitions and highlighted Palesa’s victory as Nepal’s greatest achievement in international sports to date.

The event was attended by Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary, Secretary Sumanraj Aryal, National Sports Council member Tangklal Ghising, and officials from the Nepal Taekwondo Association, among others.
