Kathmandu – The government has lifted the ban on the use and access of the social media platform TikTok. The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) issued a notice today, directing all internet and mobile service providers to remove the restrictions, effectively ending the ban.
Following the NTA’s directive, TikTok is now accessible on users’ mobile devices. The government had initially decided to lift the ban on TikTok on Bhadra 6 (August 22).
The ban was originally imposed on Kartik 27 (November 13) last year to prevent further negative impacts on social harmony and the social environment. The government aimed to make the use of TikTok more regulated and respectful.
