Kathmandu – Madan Dahal has officially assumed his role as Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority. Earlier today, he was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel at the Ministry of Finance.

Dahal was appointed by the government to lead the authority until further arrangements are made. Alongside his new responsibilities, he is a Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and a member of the Insurance Authority’s board of directors.

Key Priorities Outlined by Chairman Dahal
Upon assuming office, Chairman Dahal outlined his immediate priorities. His first focus will be on facilitating the appointment of a permanent chairman for the authority, followed by appointing an executive director.

Addressing the staff, Dahal emphasized working diligently to bring noticeable improvements within the authority. He assured that he would avoid making decisions with long-term implications but stressed the importance of addressing critical issues.

“We must prioritize resolving cases where policyholders have faced challenges. Protecting the rights of the insured and fostering trust among citizens in the benefits of insurance is essential. Additionally, attention should be given to solving insurers’ issues and advancing the development and expansion of the insurance sector,” Dahal stated.

Warm Reception by the Authority
Dahal was warmly welcomed to the Insurance Authority with traditional garlands, khada, and bouquets by directors and employees. His appointment marks a new chapter for the authority, with hopes for progress in Nepal’s insurance landscape.
