Kathmandu – The second edition of ‘The National Insurance Discourse 2025’, jointly organized by Banking News, Banking Samachar and the Nepal Insurance Authority and sponsored by Reliable Life, will be inaugurated by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel. The event is scheduled for January 9 (Poush 25) at the Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu, beginning at 12:30 PM.
The discourse will feature four sessions covering life insurance, non-life insurance, reinsurance, and the use of technology in the insurance sector. The sessions will include participation from CEOs of various insurance companies, representatives from the Nepal Insurance Authority and the Ministry of Finance, as well as insurance experts from Nepal and abroad. Two prominent insurance experts from India are also expected to attend.
Objectives and Background
Since its inception in 2023 (2080 BS), ‘The National Insurance Discourse’ has been organized with the aim of promoting sustainable development, stability, and expansion of Nepal’s insurance sector, particularly in rural areas. The first edition, held on September 4, 2023, at the Soltee Hotel in Kathmandu, provided a platform for in-depth discussions on challenges and opportunities in Nepal’s insurance industry.
Key topics discussed during the inaugural edition included issues faced by life and non-life insurance companies, reasons behind the limited growth of insurance coverage, and the role stakeholders should play in expanding access and business opportunities in the sector.
Deliverables
Findings and conclusions from the sessions are compiled into a detailed report, which is submitted to the Ministry of Finance and the Nepal Insurance Authority. This report serves as a key document to inform policy-making and support the sustainable development and promotion of the insurance industry.
By facilitating such dialogues and producing actionable insights, Banking News aims to contribute significantly to the long-term growth and stability of Nepal’s insurance sector.
