Deputy Governor Neelam Dhungana Timsina to Participate in Inaugural Session of Third Banking Discourse


KathmanduDeputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Neelam Dhungana Timsina, will participate in the inaugural session of the Third Banking Discourse 2025, scheduled to take place on Jestha 22 (June 5, 2025). The event is organized by Bankingkhabar.com.

Born in Jhapa, Neelam completed her School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Himalayan Secondary School, Damak in 2041 BS. Known for her academic excellence from a young age, she secured the highest marks in I.Com in the district. She pursued B.Com at Mahendra Morang Campus in Biratnagar, and later completed her Master’s in Economics from Tribhuvan University, ranking second overall and first among female candidates.

She has held various important roles at NRB, including in Foreign Exchange Management, Bank Supervision, Monetary Management, Internal Audit, and Economic Research departments. Notably, she served nearly 11 years in the Economic Research Department, making it her longest tenure within NRB. She also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and completed a PhD from India in the area of “Monetary Transmission Mechanism and Bank Lending Behavior.”

Neelam was appointed Senior Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank by the Government of Nepal while serving in the Monetary Management Department.

The Banking Discourse is a national-level forum hosted by Bankingkhabar.com for the past two years, focusing on sustainable growth, stability, and accountability in Nepal’s banking sector. A special session will feature former Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat.
