Banking News — In a significant step toward fostering inclusive economic growth in Nepal, DIGI Nepal has announced a strategic partnership with eSewa Ltd. to launch a new co-creation initiative aimed at expanding access to finance for underserved communities, particularly in Madhesh Province.

This collaborative project is designed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and marginalized groups, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs and migrant households. The initiative introduces an innovative collateral-free digital lending model, paving the way for equitable financial opportunities in underserved regions.

Aligned with the Swiss cooperation program’s priorities on inclusive economic development, the project will also provide beneficiaries with digital financial literacy training. This ensures that newly connected users not only gain access to finance but also develop the skills necessary to navigate and benefit from the digital economy.

“This partnership with eSewa Ltd. represents a catalytic shift in how financial services are delivered in Nepal’s rural and semi-urban communities,” said a spokesperson for DIGI Nepal. “By prioritizing accessibility, digital empowerment, and financial literacy, we aim to foster long-term income generation and sustainable wealth creation.”

The initiative is expected to complement existing local market dynamics while promoting broader financial inclusion laying a foundation for a more resilient and inclusive economy.
