Banking News – At the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville, Equity Group Managing Director and CEO, Dr. James Mwangi, joined an influential gathering of global financial leaders to advocate for a bold and inclusive approach to sustainable development.

Speaking alongside prominent figures such as Nadia Calviño, President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), and Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s Finance Minister, Dr. Mwangi called for transformational partnerships as the new form of leadership required to achieve global development goals.

During the opening of the International Business Forum organized by the International Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Mwangi emphasized that such partnerships are no longer optional but essential in today’s interconnected world. “We must reimagine collaboration as a driving force for inclusive and sustainable

growth,” he stated.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Mwangi participated in a high-level session hosted by the African Union and the African Women’s Leadership Network, an initiative founded by UN Deputy Secretary-General Hon. Amina Mohammed. In his remarks, he reaffirmed his commitment to advancing women-led progress in Africa, highlighting the critical role of women in driving the continent’s transformation.

The discussions and commitments made at FfD4 directly align with the goals of the Africa Recovery and Resilience Plan (ARRP) — a strategic framework aimed at accelerating economic recovery, enhancing resilience, and fostering long-term sustainable growth across Africa.

Dr. Mwangi’s presence at FfD4 reinforces Equity Group’s role as a key advocate for inclusive finance, collaborative capital, and visionary leadership at a time when global partnerships are more important than ever.
