Banking News – The Employment Permit System (EPS) of South Korea is set to begin accepting applications for the 2025 Korean language test for Nepali workers from August 11 to August 16, according to a public notice issued by the EPS section under Nepal’s Department of Foreign Employment.
The first phase of the language test will be conducted in Kathmandu and is aimed at selecting 5,300 Nepali migrant workers. Of this number, 3,500 individuals will be chosen for employment in South Korea’s manufacturing sector, while 1,800 will be recruited for livestock farming jobs.
The EPS section has clarified that the actual number of recruits may vary depending on labor demand in South Korea. Eligible applicants must be Nepali citizens aged between 18 and 39 years. Each applicant is permitted to apply for only one employment sector.
In the fiscal year 2024/25, a total of 14,224 Nepali workers received labor permits to work in South Korea. Government data shows that over 110,000 Nepalis have gone to South Korea for employment since the start of the EPS program, with approximately 50,000 currently working there.
Nepal and South Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2007 to facilitate labor migration under the EPS scheme, and the recruitment process officially began in 2008.
