Managing Director of Banking Samachar, Raju Dhungel, has stated that the issues raised during the National Insurance Discourse are increasingly being incorporated into national budgets, policies, and laws.
Addressing the third edition of the National Insurance Discourse 2026, jointly organized by Banking Samachar and News of Insurance at the Yak & Yeti Hotel in Kathmandu, Managing Director Dhungel said that key issues highlighted in the first and second editions of the discourse—such as insurance coverage for government physical assets—have been reflected in national budgetary provisions.
He said, “In line with the discussions held during last year’s discourse and the report submitted to the Ministry of Finance, the current fiscal year’s budget has included provisions for insuring government physical assets. The Finance Secretary is present here today, and we extend special thanks for this arrangement. Similarly, following discussions in the first Insurance Discourse on allowing Nepali insurance companies to open branches abroad, the Insurance Authority has already granted permission to five companies.”
Dhungel further expressed pride in being able to play a constructive role in policy formulation aimed at steering Nepal’s insurance sector in a positive and progressive direction.
