Interbank Transactions Drop to Rs 9.79 Trillion in 10 Months


Banking News: Interbank transaction carried out between banks and financial institution have declined during the first ten months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, according to data from the central bank.

As per statistics released by the Nepal Rastra Bank, total interbank transactions reached Rs 9.79 trillion during the review period.

Of the total, commercial banks accounted for Rs 8.34 trillion, while other financial institutions (excluding transactions among commercial banks) contributed Rs 1.44 trillion.

In comparison, during the same period of the previous fiscal year, interbank transactions stood significantly higher at Rs 16.20 trillion, including Rs 14.70 trillion from commercial banks and Rs 1.49 trillion from other financial institutions.

The data indicates a notable decline in interbank market activity year-on-year, reflecting changes in liquidity management and banking sector operations.
