Five Foreign Women Arrested in Thamel Over Alleged Obscene Activities


Banking NewsNepal Police has arrested five foreign women in Kathmandu’s tourist district of Thamel on allegations of engaging in obscene activities and mistreating police officers.

According to police, a team from the Lainchaur Police Circle detained the women after they were allegedly found approaching and obstructing both Nepali and foreign male tourists on the streets of Thamel, negotiating for obscene activities and causing public disturbance.

The arrested individuals include four Ugandan nationals and one Indonesian national, police said.

Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, said the women also behaved in an unruly manner toward officers when police attempted to counsel and question them during the operation.Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
