Labour Culture Party Chair Rai Calls for Preserving Constitution’s Core Structure During Amendment

Banking News– Harkaraj Rai, Chairperson of the Labour Culture Party, has said Nepal’s Constitution can be amended while preserving its fundamental structure, stressing the need for a careful and responsible approach to constitutional reform.

Speaking during Monday’s meeting of the House of Representatives of Nepal, Rai said lawmakers should treat the issue of constitutional amendment with seriousness.

“We can amend other provisions while keeping the Constitution’s basic structure intact. We must approach constitutional amendments with caution; otherwise, there is a risk of creating further problems,” he said.

Rai also appreciated the government’s efforts during its first 100 days in office, particularly in promoting good governance, curbing corruption, and improving public service delivery.

Referring to his recent visit to the Mahakali region, he urged the government to expedite the construction of the Darchula–Tinkar road and called for future national pride projects to be prioritized in Nepal’s border areas.

He further drew the government’s attention to the rehabilitation of landless and unmanaged settlers, urging authorities to distribute land ownership certificates at the earliest.

Additionally, Rai called for the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences to be upgraded into a university and recommended decentralizing healthcare services to improve access across the country.
