Forest Officer Arrested for Allegedly Accepting Bribe

Banking News: Chief of the Bandipur Sub-Division Forest Office, Ramkeval Rai Yadav, has been arrested on charges of accepting a bribe from a service recipient.

According to Suresh Nyaupane, spokesperson for Nepal’s Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Yadav was caught red-handed after allegedly receiving NPR 12,000 in cash as a bribe.

The CIAA stated that its investigation team from the Bardibas Office acted on a special tip-off and public complaint. The complaint alleged that Yadav demanded a bribe while verifying whether timber transported for an industry in Siraha District matched the official seal and documentation before returning the related file.

During the operation, investigators also recovered NPR 133,120 in cash from Yadav, the source of which could not be immediately verified.

The CIAA said Yadav was arrested while traveling from Mirchaiya, Karjanha Municipality-4, toward Bandipur and that further investigation into the case is underway.
