Banking NewsJaljala Rural Municipality in Parbat has distributed ghee and eggs to 149 women who gave birth at health institutions during the current fiscal year under its Vice Chairperson’s Maternal Nutrition Program.

The initiative, funded through the municipality’s targeted budget allocation, aims to encourage institutional deliveries, discourage home births, and promote better nutrition for mothers and newborns.

According to the municipality, the support was provided to mothers who delivered at health facilities in Mallaj, Lekphant, and Shalija.

Vice Chairperson Dipak Acharya said that 149 mothers from all nine wards who gave birth at health institutions between Shrawan 2082 BS and the third week of Asar 2083 BS received two crates of eggs and one mana (a traditional unit) of ghee.

“We purchased the eggs and ghee from local farmers within the municipality and distributed them to the beneficiaries,” Acharya said.

He added that the program is designed to raise awareness about the importance of nutritious diets for mothers and children during the first two years after childbirth while also increasing access to institutional maternity services.

Bindu Sharma, Chief of the Women and Children Section, said health workers also provide nutritional counseling and guidance on preparing balanced and nutritious meals when distributing the support packages.
