Banking News – Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has warned that educational institutions operating foreign academic programs such as A-Level, CBSE, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) without prior government approval will face legal action.

The warning follows the Council of Ministers’ approval of the Foreign Educational Programs (Operation and Regulation) Regulations, 2083 on Wednesday. The new regulation aims to strengthen the quality assurance and oversight of foreign-affiliated academic programs operating in Nepal.

According to Krishna Chandra Pokharel, Under Secretary at the Ministry, some educational institutions have been conducting foreign academic programs without obtaining the ministry’s approval. He said the ministry has reiterated the legal requirements and will strictly enforce the new regulatory framework.

The ministry has also called on all concerned stakeholders to submit written information within three days if they are aware of any educational institutions operating foreign academic programs without the required authorization.

The newly approved regulations are intended to improve the quality of higher education and establish new standards for academic programs offered in collaboration with foreign universities and educational institutions operating in Nepal.
