Banking News – The Madhesh Provincial Assembly has formed a special task force to resolve disputes surrounding the Provincial Government’s budget for Fiscal Year 2083/84 (2026/27) and other related issues.

During Sunday’s assembly meeting, Speaker Ram Ashish Yadav announced the formation of the task force, which began its work immediately. The committee comprises Provincial Assembly members Upendra Mahato, Harinarayan Mahato, Jangilal Rai, Pramod Kumar Yadav, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Bimala Ansari Tarunm, and Sarita Kumari Thakur.
The task force has been authorized to formulate its own working procedures.
During the same session, Finance Minister Yubaraj Bhattarai formally presented the Appropriation Bill, 2083, on behalf of the provincial government.
The assembly also approved, by majority vote, a proposal tabled by Provincial Assembly member Rabindra Shrestha to suspend Sub-rules (2) and (3) of Rule 135 of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly Regulations. Following the approval, Speaker Yadav removed the remaining items listed on the day’s agenda.
The next meeting of the Provincial Assembly has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Asar 30 (July 14).
The budget dispute dates back to Asar 17, when the assembly convened to discuss the Appropriation Bill that had been presented by the provincial government on Asar 1. The session was disrupted after opposition parties including the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSP-Nepal), the Janamat Party, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) demanded amendments to the budget, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the meeting indefinitely.
Earlier, Finance Minister Bhattarai had unveiled a NPR 41.13 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2083/84, prioritizing agricultural innovation, entrepreneurship promotion, education, and healthcare. The newly formed task force is expected to facilitate consensus and help break the legislative deadlock over the provincial budget.
