New Passport Production and Management System Goes Live

Banking News – The Department of Passports has launched passport services through a new passport production and management system from today. The department, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, successfully completed the largest data migration in Nepal’s history before bringing the new system into operation.

According to the department, passport records of around 10 million Nepali citizens have been securely transferred to the new system. As with the implementation of any large-scale information technology system, some technical challenges, slower system performance, and minor delays in passport issuance may occur during the initial phase.

The department said its technical team, staff, and experts from the system development company will remain on standby 24 hours a day to continuously monitor, test, and improve the system. It expressed confidence in its ability and commitment to resolve both short-term and long-term technical issues promptly.

During the initial phase of the new system, the department has requested that only applicants with urgent passport requirements submit applications. It said this cooperation will help make the new system more stable and efficient.

The department has also urged the public to rely only on official notices and announcements issued through the Department of Passports or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for information related to passport services.
