ICAN Election Underway as Efforts Continue for Unopposed Selection


Banking News – The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) is preparing for its upcoming election, scheduled for Asar 32, through which a 17-member executive council, including the President and Vice President, will be formed.

The ICAN Council, which serves a three-year term, elects the President and Vice President annually from among its members.

Current Vice President Anand Raj Sharma Wagle is the leading contender for the post of President. Meanwhile, Aman Upreti, Hem Kafle, and Umesh Raj Pandey are contesting for the position of Vice President.

Efforts are reportedly underway to elect candidates unopposed for all positions, although the election is scheduled to proceed if consensus is not reached.

ICAN is the statutory regulatory body established under the Nepal Chartered Accountants Act, 1997 (2053 B.S.) to regulate, promote, develop, and protect the accounting profession in Nepal.

In accordance with the Act, the institute has been providing Chartered Accountancy (CA) education since 1999.
