Man in Rautahat Hospitalized After Self-Immolation Attempt; Referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital


Banking News – A 28-year-old man from Garuda Municipality-9, Gamhariya, Rautahat, has been seriously injured following an apparent self-immolation attempt and has been referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in Kathmandu for specialized treatment.

According to Ward Chair Rajesh Sahani, the man, identified as Gautam Kumar Sahani, had reportedly been experiencing mental distress and depression for some time before the incident, which occurred on Tuesday night.

Rautahat District Police Office spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Basanta Gautam said the victim sustained burn injuries to approximately 35 percent of his body below the neck. Following initial medical assessment, he was transferred to Kathmandu for advanced treatment on the recommendation of doctors.

Police said preliminary information suggests the injured man had been struggling with depression, and a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.

Family members rushed him to Better Nepal Hospital in Garuda immediately after the incident, where he received primary treatment before being referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for specialized care, according to the Garuda Area Police Office.

According to the ward chair, Sahani lived with his wife and three sons and operated a small roadside hotel near Jhajh Bridge in Garuda Bazaar to support his family.
