Nepal Life Insurance Acquires Birgunj Hotel Makalu Land for Rs. 337.75 Million

Banking News – Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited, one of Nepal’s leading life insurance companies, has purchased land worth more than Rs. 337.75 million (Rs. 33.77 crore) in Birgunj, marking a significant investment in the country’s commercial hub.

The company acquired 87.53 dhur of land located in Ward No. 4 of Birgunj Metropolitan City, which was previously owned by Hotel Makalu Pvt. Ltd.

According to the company, Rs. 320 million was paid for the land itself, while an additional Rs. 17.75 million was spent on government registration fees and ownership transfer charges, bringing the total investment to Rs. 337.75 million.

The purchased property includes land parcels bearing Kitta Nos. 24, 65, 69, 75, 77, 142, and 185, according to the company’s official disclosure.

The acquisition was completed at the beginning of Shrawan, despite the current slowdown in Nepal’s real estate and broader economic sectors.

Nepal Life Insurance said the newly acquired property will be used to establish its regional and commercial office facilities in Birgunj.

The company stated that operating from rented premises and smaller office spaces has increased administrative and operational costs, prompting the decision to invest in a modern corporate building in one of Nepal’s busiest commercial cities.

The investment reflects the insurer’s long-term expansion strategy and commitment to strengthening its operational presence in key business centers across the country.
