Parliamentary Committee Discusses Bill to Amend Nepal Rastra Bank Act


Banking News – The House of Representatives’ Finance Committee has held discussions with key stakeholders on the proposed bill to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002 (2058 BS), as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s monetary and financial framework.

According to Committee Secretary Laxman Aryal, the meeting included discussions with representatives of the Nepal Bankers’ Association and the Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CBFIN). Officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and Nepal Rastra Bank also participated in the deliberations.

The government registered the amendment bill in the Federal Parliament on Jestha 11. The Ministry of Finance stated that the proposed amendments aim to modernize the Nepal Rastra Bank Act and make the country’s monetary and financial system stronger, more credible and better aligned with current economic needs.
