Prime Minister to Hold High-Level Meeting with Capital Market and Insurance Stakeholders Today


Banking News – Prime Minister Balendra Shah is scheduled to hold a special meeting today with key stakeholders from Nepal’s capital market, securities industry and insurance sector to discuss policy reforms and the future direction of the country’s financial markets.

The meeting will take place at 12:00 pm at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar. Discussions are expected to focus on the current state of the capital market, challenges facing the securities and insurance sectors, potential policy reforms, and broader economic issues affecting the financial system.

Among the participants are:

  • Dr. Gopal Bhatta, Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON)
  • Amrit Lamsal, Chairman of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE)
  • Sagar Dhakal, President of the Stock Broker Association of Nepal
  • Sandeep Jalan, representative of NASA Securities
  • Sitaram Thapaliya, former Chief Executive Officer of NEPSE
  • Navaraj Silwal, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Life Insurance
  • Maheshwarlal Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer of Citizen Stock Dealer Company Limited

Priya Raj Regmi and Ambika Prasad Poudel are also expected to attend the meeting.

The discussion comes as the government places increasing priority on policy reforms in the capital market and financial sector. The Prime Minister’s direct engagement with leading industry representatives is expected to provide momentum for addressing regulatory challenges, strengthening investor confidence and advancing reforms in Nepal’s securities and insurance industries.
