Banking News – Nepal’s Social Security Fund (SSF) has accumulated more than Rs. 116.71 billion in contributions, with the total number of registered contributors surpassing 3 million as of the end of the fiscal year 2025/26 (mid-July 2026).

According to the Social Security Fund, total contributions reached Rs. 116.71 billion, contributed by registered employers and enrolled workers.

The Fund reported that the number of registered employers has increased to 23,490, while the number of registered contributors has reached 3,043,200.

During the same period, the SSF paid out Rs. 21.27 billion in claims under its various social security schemes.

Of the total claims:

• Rs. 3.52 billion was disbursed for medical treatment, healthcare, and maternity benefits.
• Rs. 304.6 million was paid under the accident and disability protection scheme.
• Rs. 380.4 million was provided through the dependent family protection scheme.
• Rs. 17.06 billion was disbursed under the retirement benefit scheme.

The Fund noted that contribution collections have increased significantly following the inclusion of Nepali migrant workers under the Social Security Scheme.

The SSF added that growing public participation has been driven by the expansion of pension, healthcare, and other social protection programs. The Fund has also begun investing in various productive sectors, expressing confidence that such investments will generate long-term economic and social benefits while strengthening the sustainability of Nepal’s social security system.
