Banking News – The Inland Revenue Office, Janakpurdham, collected Rs. 6.06 billion in revenue during the fiscal year 2025/26 (2082/83 BS) despite challenging economic conditions and subdued market liquidity.

According to Office Chief Anand Kumar Gupta, the office achieved 88.49% of its annual revenue target through intensified market inspections and targeted campaigns to recover outstanding tax dues.

During the fiscal year, the office collected Rs. 2.55 billion in excise duty, Rs. 2.06 billion in income tax, and Rs. 1.28 billion in Value Added Tax (VAT).

Additionally, revenue collections included Rs. 77.8 million from interest tax, Rs. 52.5 million from rental tax, Rs. 431,000 from the health risk tax, and Rs. 34.1 million from other sources, Gupta said.

In the previous fiscal year (2024/25), the office had exceeded its target by collecting Rs. 4.90 billion against a target of Rs. 4.88 billion.

For FY 2025/26, the Inland Revenue Office had been assigned an annual revenue target of Rs. 6.85 billion.

The office currently serves 173,968 registered taxpayers, including both individual and business taxpayers.

Gupta added that the office successfully recovered more than Rs. 100 million in overdue taxes by conducting taxpayer outreach programs, making telephone and SMS reminders, visiting taxpayers directly, and promoting tax relief and compliance initiatives.
