Banking News – Nepal made a winning start to the International Youth Basketball Championship 2026, defeating Sri Lanka in its opening match in Bangkok, Thailand.

The tournament is being held at the Min Buri Campus and Swiss Section of Ruamrudee International School from July 24 to 28, with Nepal’s youth team representing the country against teams from the United States, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and several other nations.

A total of 15 countries are participating in this year’s championship, including Nepal, India, Thailand, South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Macau, Guam, and Taiwan.

The championship is officially recognized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the Basketball Sport Association of Thailand, and is expected to feature between 800 and 1,000 young athletes from across the participating nations.

Nepal’s opening victory over Sri Lanka marks a positive start to its campaign in one of the region’s prominent international youth basketball competitions.
