Banking News – The Food Technology and Quality Control Office has fined a hotel in Deukhuri, Dang, Rs. 25,000 for serving stale food to travelers and violating food safety standards.

According to Padam Baral, Chief of the Food Technology and Quality Control Office, the action was taken against East-West Highway Hotel, located at Masuriya, Rapti Rural Municipality-3, along the East-West Highway.

The inspection was carried out by a joint team from the Food Technology and Quality Control Office and the District Administration Office, led by Assistant Chief District Officer Sabitra Pun.

During the inspection, officials found several serious violations, including the storage of unhygienic and stale food in refrigerators, the use of artificial coloring in cooked food, an unsuitable kitchen structure, the absence of a displayed price list, stagnant wastewater in drainage areas, and poor sanitation with foul odors inside the kitchen.

Baral said the hotel had previously been instructed on multiple occasions to improve its food safety and hygiene standards. However, after finding no significant improvements during the latest inspection, the authorities imposed the fine.

The hotel has been directed to pay the Rs. 25,000 fine to the District Administration Office within one week and submit the required documentation.

The inspection team also monitored seven other hotels in the Deukhuri area on Friday as part of its ongoing food safety enforcement campaign.
