Around 45,000 Investors in Banke Trading Shares Through TMS

Banking News – The number of investors participating in Nepal’s stock market through the Trade Management System (TMS) has continued to rise in Banke, with around 45,000 investors now using the online trading platform.

The growing adoption of technology-based trading has significantly increased investor participation, making it easier for individuals to buy and sell shares from anywhere.

According to Uday Adhikari, Head of Imperial Securities Company Ltd., Nepalgunj, the convenience offered by digital trading has encouraged more people to open TMS accounts.

“Investors have become increasingly comfortable with technology, and new investors now consider access to TMS as a basic requirement before entering the stock market,” Adhikari said.

He added that 62,796 investors in Banke have opened Demat (beneficiary) accounts so far. Of the total, 37,300 are male, 25,459 are female, and 37 belong to other gender categories. Approximately 10% of these accounts are currently inactive.

Adhikari noted that the expansion of Demat account services by banks and financial institutions, along with growing public awareness about investment opportunities in the stock market, has accelerated the number of new investors across both urban and rural areas.

Investor Kul Prasad Sharma said many people open Demat accounts primarily to apply for Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). He added that, besides genuine investment interest, the increasing number of accounts is also driven by a tendency to follow others.

At present, share trading in Nepalgunj is facilitated through Imperial Securities, Kalika Securities, and Primo Securities. Investors from Banke, as well as neighboring districts including Bardiya, Dang, Kailali, Kalikot, and Jumla, also use Nepalgunj as a regional hub for stock market trading.
