Ward Secretary Arrested for Accepting Rs. 10,000 Bribe in Jhapa

Banking News – Ajay Kumar Sah, the Ward Secretary of Gaurigunj Rural Municipality-1 in Jhapa, has been arrested by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on charges of accepting a Rs. 10,000 bribe.

According to the CIAA, the arrest followed a complaint alleging that Sah demanded a bribe from a service recipient while issuing a divorce registration certificate, causing unnecessary delay and harassment in the process.

A CIAA team from the Itahari Office apprehended Sah on Monday after he was caught red-handed accepting the Rs. 10,000 bribe at a local hotel in Gaurigunj Rural Municipality-1, officials said.

CIAA Spokesperson Suresh Nyaupane confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody along with the cash amount, and the anti-graft body has collected the necessary evidence and launched a detailed investigation into the case.

The CIAA said it remains committed to maintaining zero tolerance against corruption in public service delivery and will continue taking legal action against those involved in corrupt practices.
