Banking News – The Janakpur Road Division Office completed the construction of 40 kilometres of blacktopped roads and six bridges across Dhanusha and Mahottari districts during fiscal year 2082/83.

According to Daroga Prasad, Chief Engineer at the Janakpur Road Division Office, the office blacktopped 30 kilometres of roads in Dhanusha and 10 kilometres in Mahottari during the fiscal year.

The office also completed the construction of five bridges in Dhanusha and one bridge in Mahottari. The newly completed bridges in Dhanusha include those over the Jamuni River, Amari Khola near Parshuram Talau, Dudhmati Khola, Baluwa Khola, and Bhuthaha Khola. In Mahottari, a bridge over the Ankush Khola was also completed during the same period.

Meanwhile, the Janakpur Road Division Office has initiated legal action against 11 construction companies for abandoning or failing to complete ongoing road and bridge projects in Dhanusha and Mahottari on time. The office has terminated the contracts of the contractors involved and begun the necessary enforcement procedures.

Several infrastructure projects in the two districts remain incomplete due to border security concerns, contract cancellations, court-related disputes, and slow construction progress.

Chief Engineer Daroga Prasad said that contracts with the companies responsible for the three under-construction bridges over the Jamuni Khola, Dudhmati Khola, and Basahi River along the Janakpur–Jatahi Six-Lane Road have been cancelled, and legal action is underway.

He further noted that construction of the Jallad River Bridge on the Kachuri–Nayatol–Katarait Road and the Dudhmati River Bridge on the Duhabi–Harsaha Road has been suspended due to matters related to High Court orders.

Local residents have expressed concern that delays in completing these bridge projects have disrupted transportation during the monsoon season, increased travel risks, and negatively affected economic activities in the region.
