Banking News – The Nepal Police Headquarters has transferred Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudip Pathak, chief of the District Police Office, Parsa, to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari.

Replacing him, SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, who was serving at the Kathmandu District Police Range, has been appointed as the new chief of the District Police Office, Parsa.

SP Bhattarai arrived in Parsa on Wednesday to assume his new responsibilities. He previously served as the chief of the District Police Office, Palpa, before being transferred to Kathmandu following the Gen-Z movement to help address security challenges in the capital. Regarded as an experienced officer in field operations and command, Bhattarai has now been entrusted with leading the police force in Parsa.

Meanwhile, SP Dan Bahadur Thapa, who was previously serving at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), has been transferred to the Kathmandu District Police Range, where he will replace Bhattarai.

The transfer of SP Pathak has been linked to the recent incident involving the alleged mistreatment of doctors at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj. Doctors accused Pathak of behaving inappropriately toward a negotiation team during discussions over the incident and subsequently launched protests demanding his transfer.

The protesting doctors had also called for the transfer of the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa, arguing that both officials should be held accountable. The issue sparked demonstrations by healthcare professionals in the district.

SP Pathak had been posted to Parsa in October 2025 (Ashoj 2082 BS).
