Banking News – The Government of Nepal has expanded the investigation committee formed to probe the recent Sunsari incident by appointing two additional members with expertise in ballistic and forensic investigations.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, through a secretary-level decision on Wednesday, appointed Police Inspector Dipesh Awasthi and Superintendent of Police Mohan Singh Dhami as members of the committee to oversee ballistic and forensic examinations.

The ministry has also directed the committee to submit its investigation report as soon as possible.

The committee was originally formed on Monday under the coordination of Joint Secretary Bhupendra Thapa to investigate the clash between two groups that occurred on Sunday night in Dewanganj, Sunsari.

Meanwhile, the ministry has begun preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in other districts, including Banke, Kapilvastu, Dhanusha, Siraha, and Saptari. It said the respective Chief District Officers (CDOs) have been instructed to coordinate efforts to maintain peace, public order, and communal harmony.

The Ministry of Home Affairs added that it has intensified security monitoring and coordination in the affected areas. A high-level meeting chaired by the Home Minister, attended by the Home Secretary and chiefs of the security agencies, reviewed the security situation across the districts.

According to the ministry, efforts are continuing to resolve the Sunsari situation through dialogue, and the security situation in Dewanganj and other sensitive areas of the district is gradually returning to normal.
