FNCCI Urges All Sides to Maintain Social Harmony Amid Eastern Nepal Tensions

Banking News – The Federation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has called on all concerned parties to maintain social, religious, and communal harmony following the recent unrest in Kaptanganj, Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3 of Sunsari, and several other districts in eastern Nepal.

In a statement, the federation noted that Nepal has long been recognized for its tradition of religious tolerance, unity, and social harmony, urging all stakeholders to preserve these values during the current situation.

CNI emphasized that dialogue remains the most effective way to resolve disputes, stating that history has shown that conflicts and grievances are best addressed through peaceful discussions rather than protests, violence, or confrontation. The federation appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and work together to maintain peace, law and order, and communal harmony across the country.

The organization also expressed concern that the unrest comes at a time when Nepal’s economy is already facing significant challenges and the country is striving to create jobs and accelerate economic recovery. It warned that incidents involving violence, damage to public and private property, forced market closures, looting, and disruptions to business activities could further undermine economic confidence.

CNI urged the Government of Nepal and relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of citizens, businesses, and industries while restoring normalcy as quickly as possible.

The federation further encouraged its provincial and district chapters, along with other private sector organizations, to collaborate with civil society groups in organizing peace-building initiatives, including social harmony rallies and other activities aimed at promoting unity and coexistence throughout the country.
