Banking News – CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation that began in Dewanganj Rural Municipality, Sunsari, criticizing the use of force by state authorities and urging all parties to maintain peace and social harmony.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Oli expressed grief over the deaths of Om Prakash Mehta of Sunsari and Ganesh Yadav of Siraha, who were killed in separate shooting incidents during the unrest. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

The UML chairman said it was deeply distressing that the tension originating in Dewanganj had spread to Siraha and other districts, resulting in further violence and loss of life. He stated that the party was seriously concerned about the evolving situation.

Oli urged citizens not to be misled by misinformation or rumors, calling on everyone to exercise restraint and preserve social harmony, religious tolerance, and national unity. He emphasized that unity and brotherhood among citizens remain the country’s greatest strength and appealed to political parties, civil society, media, and the public to remain vigilant against attempts to divide society.

Criticizing the government’s handling of the crisis, Oli described its alleged inaction, excessive use of force, and silence amid the sensitive security situation as questionable and condemnable. He called on the government to immediately halt violence and resolve the situation through dialogue.

He also stressed that, at a time when the country is facing a difficult situation, major political parties should rise above blame games and populist politics and work together to restore peace, security, and stability.

Concluding his statement, Oli said that violence and conflict cannot provide a lasting solution to the current crisis. He urged political leaders, civil society, intellectuals, and religious and community leaders to unite in safeguarding national interest, social harmony, and lasting peace.
