Banking News – Cambodia is strengthening its position as a global sports tourism destination through a new collaboration between Kombat Global and the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, with a focus on promoting the country’s traditional martial art, Kun Khmer, on the international stage.

The initiative was discussed during an official meeting in Siem Reap between Kombat Global President Rick W. Shin and Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism, H.E. Huot Hak.

The meeting was also attended by K-1 Chief of International Operations Daisuke Teraguchi and Kun Khmer Federation President Major General Khov Chhay, highlighting a shared commitment to expanding Cambodia’s presence in the global combat sports industry.

According to the participants, the partnership aims to position Cambodia as a premier destination for combat sports tourism, while increasing international recognition of Kun Khmer, the country’s traditional martial art.

Supporters of the initiative described Kun Khmer as the historic predecessor of Muay Thai, emphasizing its cultural significance and potential to attract athletes, tourists, and international sporting events to Cambodia.

The collaboration is expected to contribute to Cambodia’s tourism sector by promoting cultural heritage through international sports, creating new opportunities for economic growth and global engagement.
