Banking News – The Government of Nepal and the Joint Hindu Front held another round of talks in Janakpurdham on Sunday, reaching an 18-point verbal understanding aimed at easing recent tensions.

The meeting, held at Yatri Niwas in Janakpur in the presence of Home Minister Sudan Gurung, reviewed and clarified the earlier 13-point agreement, while incorporating several additional issues into the new understanding.

During the discussions, representatives of the Joint Hindu Front submitted their formal memorandum to Home Minister Gurung.

According to Dhanusha Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel, the meeting primarily focused on clarifying ambiguities in the 13-point agreement reached on Saturday night. He said the Home Minister also addressed concerns raised by the protesting group regarding the agreement’s official letterhead and signature process.

Luintel added that the Home Minister clarified various issues that had surfaced in the media, after which the protesting side expressed satisfaction and decided to withdraw its protest programs.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Krishna Sanatani, Central Vice President of the Hindu Samrat Sena, said several provisions had been revised or clarified during the discussions. He stated that the Home Minister had given a positive assurance that the concerns raised by the Joint Hindu Front would be addressed.

Sanatani also claimed that the Home Minister pledged to ensure that circumstances requiring the use of live ammunition would not arise in the future.

The latest round of dialogue is expected to help de-escalate tensions between the government and protest groups that had intensified in recent days in the Dhanusha district.
