Banking News – Police in Jhapa have taken action against 168 auto rickshaws and city safari vehicles found operating without mandatory documents during a special enforcement drive.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, a joint team of Nepal Police and Traffic Police launched the inspection campaign following complaints that many drivers were operating vehicles without valid driving licenses, vehicle registration books (blue books), and insurance documents.

During the operation, authorities inspected a total of 358 vehicles, including 285 city safaris and 73 auto rickshaws. Of these, 168 vehicles were found violating legal documentation requirements and were penalized in accordance with prevailing laws.

The enforcement campaign resulted in the collection of Rs. 210,000 in government revenue through fines.

Police also stated that 27 vehicles that failed to produce the required documents on the spot have been taken into custody for further investigation and legal action.

Authorities said similar inspection campaigns will continue across the district to ensure compliance with traffic regulations, improve road safety, and reduce traffic-related accidents.
