Banking News – The Government of Nepal has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of several climbers, including renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja “Nims Dai”, who were killed in an avalanche while attempting to summit Broad Peak, the world’s 12th-highest mountain.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the avalanche struck on Shrawan 14 while the expedition team was moving from Camp II to Camp III. The ministry described the tragedy as an irreparable loss to Nepal’s mountaineering community.

Among the deceased Nepali climbers are Nirmal Purja (Nims Dai), Pur Bahadur Gurung “Yukta,” Kili Pemba Sherpa “Kilu,” Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa, and Gyalu Sherpa, along with members of the international expedition team climbing Broad Peak.

The ministry stated that search and rescue operations were launched immediately after the team was reported missing, with coordinated efforts by Pakistani authorities and Nepali rescue teams. It also praised the dedication and bravery of Pakistani and Nepali mountaineers involved in the challenging high-altitude rescue mission.

According to the ministry, the bodies of Pur Bahadur Gurung “Yukta” and Gyalu Sherpa have been recovered, while search operations continue for the remaining missing climbers.

The Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad is coordinating with the concerned authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased Nepali climbers.

The Government of Nepal extended heartfelt tributes to the departed climbers and expressed its deepest condolences to their bereaved families.
