Banking News – Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. and Sanjivani Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. have formally initiated their merger process by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Shrawan 18.

The merger process has been launched in accordance with Section 3(1) of the Merger and Acquisition Directive, 2079, which governs the consolidation of banks and financial institutions in Nepal.
As part of the merger proceedings, the companies have also requested the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) to freeze the trading of shares held by their promoter shareholders until the merger process is completed and the required special general meetings of both institutions approve the proposed transaction.
The merger is expected to strengthen the operational capacity, financial position, and long-term sustainability of the two microfinance institutions. Further regulatory approvals and shareholder consent will be required before the merger becomes effective.
