Banking News – Nepal’s life insurance industry collected more than Rs. 201.91 billion in gross insurance premiums during the fiscal year 2025/26 (FY 2082/83), reflecting continued growth in the country’s life insurance sector.

According to data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, the country’s 14 life insurance companies generated a combined Rs. 201.91 billion in premium income during the fiscal year, up from Rs. 177.91 billion recorded in FY 2024/25.
Nepal Life Insurance remained the market leader, collecting Rs. 53.68 billion in gross premiums.
It was followed by National Life Insurance, which collected Rs. 24.68 billion, while LIC Nepal ranked third with Rs. 21.23 billion in premium income.
Other major insurers included:
- Himalayan Life Insurance – Rs. 18.56 billion
- SuryaJyoti Life Insurance – Rs. 12.90 billion
- Asian Life Insurance – Rs. 10.43 billion
- Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company – Rs. 9.64 billion
- Citizen Life Insurance – Rs. 9.16 billion
Among the remaining insurers, Sanima Reliance Life Insurance collected Rs. 7.99 billion, IME Life Insurance earned Rs. 7.45 billion, MetLife Nepal generated Rs. 6.86 billion, Reliable Nepal Life Insurance recorded Rs. 6.54 billion, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance collected Rs. 6.33 billion, while Sun Nepal Life Insurance reported Rs. 4.63 billion in gross premium income.
The latest figures indicate continued expansion of Nepal’s life insurance market, supported by growing insurance awareness, broader distribution networks, and increasing demand for long-term financial protection products.
