Banking News – Nepal’s National Land Problem Resolution Commission has warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who collect money from landless citizens by falsely promising to facilitate the issuance of land ownership certificates (Nissa).

The commission said that, based on applications collected from across the country, details of available land are being entered into the information system, and land ownership certificates are being distributed free of charge through the respective local governments.

According to the commission, the responsibility for verifying applicants, confirming their eligibility, and identifying land to be allocated lies with the concerned local authorities.

Operating under the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, the commission said it has provided training to officials through District Land Problem Resolution Committees, chaired by the respective Chief District Officers. It has also held discussions with local representatives and district committee officials while conducting field monitoring in various districts.

The commission stated that it has recently received complaints that some individuals are illegally collecting money from service seekers by claiming they can register applications or secure land ownership certificates on their behalf.

Describing such activities as completely illegal, the commission urged the public not to pay any money to individuals making such claims. It warned that anyone found involved in these fraudulent activities will face investigation and legal action in accordance with prevailing laws. The commission also advised citizens to obtain services only through official government procedures and avoid being misled by false promises.
