Banking News – Nepal Police arrested 84 individuals across the country in connection with illegal arms-related cases between Baisakh 1 and the end of Asar (mid-April to mid-July).

According to police, the arrests included 8 suspects from the Kathmandu Valley, 14 from Koshi Province, 11 from Madhesh Province, 5 from Bagmati Province, 18 from Gandaki Province, 13 from Lumbini Province, 10 from Karnali Province, and 5 from Sudurpashchim Province.

During the operation, police seized a total of 67 firearms, including two Chinese-made pistols, two pistols, one revolver, nine homemade pistols (Katuwa), 41 muzzle-loading guns, nine firearms, and three air guns.

Authorities also recovered four rounds of ammunition for Chinese-made pistols, 263 rounds of SLR ammunition, 14 rounds for homemade pistols, and 70 rounds of ammunition for various firearms.

Nepal Police stated that it remains committed to bringing illegal arms traders and users under the legal framework, with the objective of controlling crime and building a safer society.

The police added that intelligence gathering has been given high priority as part of nationwide special operations aimed at curbing the illegal trade and possession of firearms.
