Banking News – The Tribhuvan International Airport Security Office of Nepal Police has urged Nepali citizens returning from abroad not to carry gold or other valuable items on behalf of unknown individuals, brokers, or gold smugglers.

According to the police, there has been a growing trend in which Nepali migrant workers in countries such as the UAE and Qatar are being lured with financial incentives to bring gold chains, precious metal items, and other valuables into Nepal. In many cases, those involved are even provided with purchase invoices to make the goods appear legitimate.

Police warned that passengers carrying such items risk being arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport during customs and security inspections and may face legal action on charges of illegal gold smuggling.

Authorities have advised travelers not to transport gold, precious metals, or any other valuables for strangers, brokers, or smuggling networks, regardless of the promises or financial rewards offered.

Nepal Police has also requested passengers to immediately report any suspicious activities or attempts to lure them into carrying such items to the appropriate security authorities at the airport.
