Cabinet Appoints Yanki Ukyab as CEO of Investment Board Nepal, Approves Key Policy Decisions


Banking News – Nepal’s Council of Ministers has appointed development economist and public policy expert Yanki Ukyab as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investment Board Nepal (IBN).

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmita Pokharel, announced the decision following the Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday.

The Cabinet also approved several key policy and administrative decisions, including:

  • Approval of the First Amendment to the Statistics Regulations, 2083 BS.
  • Revocation of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee Formation Order, 2054 BS.
  • Approval to merge the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee into the Nepal Transit and Warehousing Company Limited.
  • A decision to implement the Animal Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055 BS, in phases across Nepal.
  • Approval to table the First Amendment Bill on Children, 2083 BS, in the Federal Parliament.
  • Appointment of Professor Khadga Bahadur KC as Chairperson of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
  • Appointment of Professor Dr. Rojesh Shrestha as Secretary of the University Grants Commission.
  • Approval to provide compensation, relief, and medical treatment to those who lost their lives or were injured during recent protests in Sunsari and Siraha districts.

According to Minister Pokharel, the Cabinet decisions are aimed at strengthening institutional governance, improving public administration, advancing legislative reforms, and addressing humanitarian concerns arising from recent public demonstrations.
