Banking News – The District Post Office Chitwan collected more than Rs. 10.91 million in revenue during the last fiscal year from postal stamp sales, counter automation, parcel services, royalties and other service fees.

According to Office Chief Shalikram Basyal, the office collected Rs. 5.872 million from postal stamp sales, while another Rs. 5.044 million was generated through counter automation, parcel services, royalties and other service charges.

The office achieved 91.11 percent financial progress during the review period. Of the total annual budget of Rs. 63.361 million, the office spent Rs. 57.732 million, Basyal said.

Under the government’s new organizational structure introduced last year under the “One Local Level, One Post Office” policy, postal offices are currently operating in six local levels of Chitwan—Rapti, Khairahani, Ratnanagar, Kalika and Madi municipalities, and Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality.

In addition, three postal counters are operating within Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chanouli, Jagatpur and Narayangadh, along with 12 additional post offices providing services across the district.

Of the 53 approved positions at the district office, 49 employees were working during the last fiscal year, including 26 permanent and 23 contract employees. Four positions remain vacant, while 22 additional postal workers are also serving in the district.

The office also provided Rs. 6.024 million in public welfare advertising payments to 35 media outlets in the district. During the year, 17 FM radio stations were renewed, press identification cards were issued to 22 journalists, and 19 online media outlets were registered or renewed, according to Basyal.

The figures highlight the continued role of postal services in generating public revenue while supporting communication, media and public service delivery across Chitwan.
