Banking News – Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth is scheduled to visit Nepal, arriving in Kathmandu at 4 p.m. on Sunday, according to the planned itinerary. Seth assumed the position of Chief of the Indian Army on June 30, 2026.

During his visit, General Seth is scheduled to be conferred with the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army on Monday. Nepal and India have maintained a longstanding tradition since 1950 of conferring honorary ranks on each other’s army chiefs.

In line with the tradition, Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel has also been conferred with the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army. Indian President Droupadi Murmu conferred the honorary rank on General Sigdel during a special ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on December 12, 2025.

The army chiefs of Nepal and India have also traditionally undertaken official visits to each other’s countries after assuming office. General Seth’s upcoming visit to Nepal is being viewed as an important engagement to continue the longstanding military ties and cooperation between Nepal and India.
